Add Contents Of Any Page To Google Wave With WaveThis Extension And Bookmarklet

Wave This Extension - © VikiTech Its been more than a year since Google Wave was launched. It wasn’t much of a hit with the Google users as Google would have liked. Many say it’s confusing to use or that it’s too complicated. However, after using it for a while - I find it an excellent collaboration and research tool, especially since it has the Mind Maps and Tasks plugins –  features which can help a lot in planning.

The main use of Google Wave is to collaborate with friends and colleagues. With this new “Wave This” extension and bookmarklet Google has made it extremely easy to use Google Wave to share and discuss information from the web with your friends. No more traditional way of  ”create a new wave” and then “copy-paste information” into it. This extension makes all this happen in just one click.

Google “Wave This” Extension In Action:

You can install the Google Wave This Extension here.

Once installed you would see the Wave Button at the top right corner of Chrome. When you want to create a new Wave – with contents from any page, just highlight the text and click on the “Wave This” button.

Google Wave This Bookmarklet:

If you don’t use Google Chrome or want to use the Wave This feature in other browsers, Google has created the Wave This bookmarklet to let Wave users use this feature in other browsers.

Just drag the above link to the bookmarks bar and you can start using the bookmarklet, to Wave information from any page.

Conclusion:

With the development of several Google Wave Plugins like Mind Mapping, Task Lists, Diagram Editors, White Boards and Video Conferencing , I think  Google Wave is one its way to become an excellent collaboration and discussion tool.

Do you use Google Wave ? Do you think this extension would help Wave users to add content more easily to the waves?
