How to Use Instant Upload Feature on Google+ to Share Photos and Videos On the Go [Android]
Google understands that when you social network, you want to be able to share what is going on as it is going on. While status updates can occur instantly, sharing videos and photos often take much longer and are often forgotten. By the time you get to a computer, the moment has often passed. While some still like looking back, Google wanted to make sharing photos and videos even easier. That is where Google+’s Instant Upload comes into play.
Google+’s Instant Upload allows you to instantly upload pictures as soon as you finish taking them. By enabling this in Google+ on your mobile phone, you can begin sharing moments as they are happening as opposed to waiting until you remember to upload them to your favorite social network. Instant Upload, once enabled, will send Google+ your photos as you take them and keep those in your Circles in the here and now with you.
How to get started with Instant Upload
For the moment, Instant Upload is only available on Android-based mobile phones. The iPhone app for Google+ does not use this feature yet, but Google plans to include the feature in the next update.
Depending on your Android operating system, you may need to follow different steps to get Instant Upload started. However, the first time you open Google+ on your mobile phone, you will be asked whether or not to enable it.
For all Android devices, if you need to enable or disable Instant Upload in the future, you want to follow these steps in the Google+ app:
- Open your Menu.
- Then, open your Settings.
- Finally, select Enable Instant Upload.
Simply follow the same steps if you ever want to disable Instant Upload on your mobile phone.
There are other settings you want to work within the Google+ app to get the most out of the Instant upload feature. These include deciding how and win Instant Upload functions.
Depending on your wireless plan, you may not be able to afford to upload every single video and photo you take.
By opening the Settings in the Google+ app, you can decide when you use Instant Upload.
For photos and videos, you want to decide if Instant Upload works over your mobile network or through Wi-Fi only. By operating on your mobile network, you will be using data and depending on your plan this may be costly. However, using Wi-Fi only may make you lose out on sharing when it counts the most.
You can also decide if you want to upload photos and videos while roaming, whether you only upload when your phone is charging. You can even choose to upload now which will upload everything on your phone at once. Google provides free storage through Google+ for photos and videos with no cap as of now. Instant Upload is easy to use on any Android device using Google+.
How does Instant Upload make Google+’s photo sharing features different from other social networks?
Google wants you to share in the here and now, not hours later or when you remember those photos and videos during the day. Instant Upload allows you to do just that. By using the feature, you can share multimedia from what you are up to instantly with your Circles as opposed to having to remember to do it after living in the moment. Instant Upload gives you the power to share on the go, in the moment and the way sharing was meant to be.
